Harvey 2-11 Alarm @ 192 E 157th St
1/22/14: The Harvey Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire near 157th and West Avenue, just about 2 blocks east of Station 1. First on scene companies found a fire in this 2.5 story balloon frame residence. Crews encountered heavy fire in the basement, 1st & 2nd floors, and the attic. Operations were shifted to defensive mode for a brief time as companies exited the building and regrouped before going back offensive. Engine companies had some difficulty retaining a consistent water source from at least one water main in the area, prompting Command to escalate the alarm to a 2nd for engines only. Lansing and Country Club Hills were the two extra engines on the 2-11 as Command worked off Box Card #1. The residence was occupied at the time of the fire, and one dog was rescued.
