2-11 Alarm @ 1838 S St Louis Ave
2-24-2019: Ambulance Co. 77 called in black smoke coming from the roof of a building at 18th and St Louis Avenue. Simultaneously, Chicago's OEMC 911 Center was receiving calls for a building on fire at the same location. The Main FAO proceeded to give Battalion 14 his Working Fire response (E38 E109 T48 T32 BN14 Sq1 2-7-1 RIT T36 BN18 & EMS). Upon arrival, companies were met with heavy fire in the 3rd floor rear porches. 50+ MPH wind guests drove this fire and made it extremely difficult for companies for get control of the incident. As a result, Battalion 14 requested a Still & Box as the fire was spreading to the D Side exposure. Companies went defensive, but were later sent back in for an aggressive interior attack of the heavy fire through the roof/heavily involved 3rd floor. 2-2-4 proceeded to request a 2-11 Alarm. 5 lines were led out, Truck Co. 48 made the roof, and companies worked on scene for approximately 2+ hours.
